Pay per click (PPC) refers to the practice of purchasing sponsored placements within search engines. Advertisers are allowed to buy ad space on the first page of search results by bidding on specific keywords. Each time a user searches for that keyword and clicks on the ad, the advertiser must pay the search engine the bid price.
